Admissions Requirements
Lone Star College–CyFair is an open door institution. This means that a student does not have to pass any test or obtain a certain score to be a student. However, every student (no one is exempt), must take a placement test prior to registering for classes. This test lets us know the student's current skill levels in the areas of reading, writing and math. The score a student receives on the placement test will determine whether the student will be allowed to enroll in college level classes.
Prior to testing:
Apply for admission to the college. This can be done online at www.lonestar.edu click on "admission application". Make sure that all 3 parts of the application are completed. An incomplete application will not transmit into our system.
Meet with an academic advisor to get approval for testing. If you feel that you may need special accommodations for the placement test, you will need to meet with a counselor (281-290-3260) prior to testing. Please bring the required documentation with you to the appointment.
Students should be aware that:
There are no special education classes at the college level. While students may receive various accommodations in the classroom, the student must attain college-level competency in reading, writing, and mathematics. There is 100% content mastery in every course.
The special accommodations must not alter the fundamental elements of a program. All students must meet all essential requirements of a course or program.
The accommodations will commence from the time the student presents the Accommodations Notification form to the instructor and will continue until changed by the disability services counselor. The accommodations are not retroactive to any instruction or assignments prior to receipt of the form.
