Diane K. Troyer Community Garden
This urban garden is on the grounds of Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) at 9191 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, Texas near West Road. Situated on the west side of the Harris County Public Library, Lone Star College-CyFair branch, the garden was established through the cooperation of community volunteers and college officials.
The garden reflects the learning signature of LSC-CyFair: to provide innovative and creative learning environments that focus on student engagement and student success. A major goal of the garden is to promote partnerships and joint activities between the college and the local cummunity by:
- Reserving beds for growing produce which is then donated to local food banks.
- Providing members of youth or civic groups the opportunity to contribute volunteer time or engage in educational projects.
- Allowing access to the garden for educational and community service projects by LSC-CyFair students and staff.
Volunteers are needed to help in the garden with various activities such as, construction of beds, watering, weeding, planting and harvesting. Garden members meet at the garden, located on the west side of the library building on West Road, on most Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM, weather permitting.
Visitors are welcome to visit the garden whenever the campus is open. If you are interested in a project for Scouts or other community or civic group please contact us at the number listed below.
