Summer Reading Program 2008

1. The 2008 Summer Reading Club is for both readers and listeners, and will run from Friday, June 6, through Saturday, August 9, 2008.
2. A child may register online at http://www.hcpl.net/kidsite/summerreader.htm.
3. Take a reading log home and list the books the child reads or has read to him/her.
4. After ten books, 500 pages, or 5 hours of reading have been completed, the child will earn a certificate.
5. Don't stop there! Continue to read and enjoy books for the rest of the summer. Record the titles at home and continue to participate in the incentive game at the library.

Baby Time is a year-round program on Mondays at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Recommended for children 6 months to 24 months, it features books, fingerplays, songs and movement. (limited to 25 children per session)

Pajama Storytime is a year-round program on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Recommended for children 2 years old & up, it features stories, songs, fingerplays, and occasional crafts. (limited to 35 children)

Toddler Time is a year-round program on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Recommended for children 2 to 3 ½ years old, it features books, fingerplays, songs, and occasional crafts. (limited to 35 children per session)

Family Storytime is a year-round program on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Recommended for children 2 years old & up, it features stories, songs, fingerplays, and occasional crafts. (limited to 35 children)

Preschool Storytime is a year-round program on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Recommended for children 3-6 years old, it features stories, songs, fingerplays and occasional crafts. (limited to 25 children)

Spanish Stories is a year-round program on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Recommended for children 2-6 years old, it features stories, songs, fingerplays and the occasional craft all in Spanish. (limited to 35 children)

Kool Kid's Krafts is a year-round program offered on Thursdays at 4:45 p.m. This program is for children 4 and older. Parents should stay to help younger children. This program will also be offered at 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays during the Summer Reading Program. (limited to 50 children each session unless otherwise noted)

Game Night is a year-round program offered on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. This program is recommended for all ages, and features board games for children and their parents to play. (limited to 35 children)

Tween Book Club is a year-round program offered on the third Wednesday of every month. This program is for 10-12 year olds and includes discussion of that month's book and activity. (limited to 25 children - please call the library at 281.290.3211 to register for this event)

My First Book Club is a year-round program offered on the fourth Wednesday of every month. This program is for 7-9 year olds and includes discussion of that month's book and activity. (limited to 20 children - please call the library at 281.290.3211 to register for this event)

Computer Kids is a summer program offered on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. This program is for children 7 and older, it features lessons on basic computer skills including Microsoft Office products and the internet. (limited to 20 children)

A Good Yarn is a summer program offered on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. This program is open to everyone, both children and adults, and is a chance for participants to learn how to crochet and/or knit or simply to work on your own project in a cooperative environment. Please bring your own yarn and needles and/or hooks.

Saturdays at the Movies is a summer program offered on Saturdays at 2 p.m. This program is open to all ages and features a different movie each week. Check with the library for specific movie titles and ratings.
