Lone Star College–CyFair Language Labs
Reserving a Lab for Your Classes
Instructors wanting to visit the labs with their students during class time must have a confirmed reservation. All reservations are made using the online Language Lab Reservation Tool. After turning in your reservation requests, a confirmation of your request will be sent to your Lone Star College System e-mail address (no outside e-mail addresses). It is very important that you open this message & click on 'ACCEPT' to confirm the time proposed to you & thereby place the reservation in the lab calendar. If you do not accept the invitation (preferably, as soon as you get it), your reservation does not exist. When you get a confirmation request, double-click on the message, click on ACCEPT, then click on SEND to confirm. If you get a subsequent reminder, click on DISMISS (please do not re-send reminders and confirmations to us, especially after the visit for that reminder has already occurred). Consult the Outlook help features for more instructions on handling events in the Outlook calendar.
When planning your proposed lab visits, you may wish to consult the current calendar of reservations for LRNC-210 & LRNC-212 in an effort to work around them. It is suggested that you submit your reservations as soon as possible (as early as 2 weeks before the beginning of the semester), as lab times fill up fast! Note that the *.pdf versions of the calendars above are not updated automatically, and they will not always immediately show a reservation request you have made or accepted (that's what your lonestar.edu email account and Outlook calendar are for). Remember that when you book a lab visit, reservations begin on the hour or the half hour only and actually end 10 minutes before the coming hour or half-hour to make way for the next class. Faculty who have not attended both a lab intro training session and a Sony system training session within the last year will not benefit from additional services. Before attempting to fill out the form below, register for and attend training.
Please be sure to read our lab guidelines & alert your students of them as well. Instructors must be in possession of the MyRecords roster for their class when visiting the labs during instructed lab times. Also, as a courtesy to your colleagues who may be waiting to use the lab at a time you have already booked, please notify us as soon as possibly of any cancellations. Please have your students leave the lab in the tidy condition your group found it in at your arrival (programs closed, computer arranged properly, headphones on hook, chair pushed in). Finally, as class visits to the lab are considered instructional time, instructors are expected to remain in the lab with their class at all times during their reserved visit, preferably sitting at the teacher station & using the Sony equipment to communicate with students. If an instructor is found to have not been present during a significant portion of a class visit during which s/he is being paid to teach the class, the appropriate supervisor(s) will be notified in order that corrective action be taken.
