English 1301 focuses primarily on writing, on critical thinking, and on reading critically. Students will read and respond to short non-fiction essays. They will write essays about topics based on a course theme, on readings from the textbook, or in a type of writing mode (argument, description, narration etc.) Students will be introduced to research writing in English 1301.
English 1302 focuses on reading, writing about, and analyzing poetry, short stories, plays, and some non-fiction. English 1302 has a research paper requirement lengthier than English 1301.
