Gazebo

Community Gazebo Initiative

Our Project

The Katy Prairie Restoration Committee and Lone Star College–CyFair have initiated a student designed, student built gazebo that will serve as an outdoor learning environment and community meeting space.

Founded on incorporating the principles of environmental stewardship and active learning, Lone Star College–CyFair has created a physical and academic environment that is a point of pride as well as a model for interdisciplinary collaboration.

The winning design for the gazebo was selected from student projects submitted in one of the college’s architecture classes. PBK Architects and Gilbane Building Company have donated their services to certify the design and provide an estimate of materials needed for construction. Students from a building and construction course will construct the gazebo as their final class project and the landscaping will be designed and maintained by Lone Star College–CyFair students in collaboration with local Cy-Fair Boy Scout troops.

For the Cy-Fair Community
Located in the quadrangle area west of the Cy-Fair branch of the Harris County Public Library on the Lone Star College–CyFair campus, it will serve as a focal point for the college and community. This large multipurpose gazebo will be utilized for campus events, college classes, library storytelling, outdoor performances and community meetings.
Sponsorship Opportunities

Katy Prairie Restoration Committee and Lone Star College–CyFair are seeking sponsorships or material donations for the construction of this gazebo.
